Chronic Pain / Neuroplastic Symptoms

Few things disrupt a person’s life more than having chronic pain, or experiencing a mind-body symptom such as IBS, or a functional neurologic disorder (FND). Pain always has a mental side. Your body sends a signal to your brain, and your brain has to interpret it: is there danger?  If so, your brain will give you the sensation of pain.   But sometimes the brain can issue a false alarm, interpreting a benign signal as dangerous, causing you to feel pain.  If that's the case, we can treat this and eliminate the pain by stopping the false alarm.  The same is true for other mind-body symptoms such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional neurological disorders (FND), chronic fatigue, long covid, and others.

If you are experiencing any of these, I may be able to help you. Please use the contact form or email me at dr.jeff@jeffreyaxelbankpsyd.com.

I've Lost My Therapist

When you enter therapy, you don't think about the possibility that your therapist might die suddenly, or contract a terminal illness.  And hopefully this will not happen while you are seeing the therapist.

Unfortunately, it does happen.

The loss of a therapist is an intensely personal experience, and if this has happened to you, you probably have found that others do not fully grasp the impact on you. There is no ritual available like there is if you lose a family member. You may have confusing feelings, and wonder where to turn to process the loss, given that the person to whom you’d normally turn is gone.

If you would like to explore joining a therapist loss support group, or just talk, please use the contact form or send me an email at dr.jeff@jeffreyaxelbankpsyd.com.

Consultation For Therapists
$199.00

Receiving on-going supervision has been a source of great professional growth for me and, in an effort to share the benefit with other therapists, I offer supervision/consultation groups open to licensed, and license-eligible professionals such as Social Workers, Marriage and Family Counselors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and Psychiatric Nurses.  Group members work in private practice settings or in agencies and hospitals.

I also offer individual consultation.  My philosophy is the same whether you are in a group, or receive consultation individually.  However, you can get more continuous  and concentrated help with your cases by meeting with me alone.

If you would like to explore getting clinical consultation, whether in a group or individually, please use the contact form or send me an email at dr.jeff@jeffreyaxelbankpsyd.com.
